2017 Porsche Macan GTS
When Porsche first showed the Cayenne SUV, enthusiasts of the brand’s sports cars saw it as the brand losing its way. But in reality, the Cayenne saved the brand from bankruptcy and quickly became its most popular product. Moving into the 2010s, the sedan market was rapidly shrinking and being taken up by crossover SUVs of all sizes. Wanting to take advantage of this evolving market, in 2014, Porsche first showed its new midsize SUV that was designed to slot in below the Cayenne – known as the Macan. Although it shared some architecture with the Audi Q5, the driving experience was completely dialed in by Porsche engineers to give it its own unique feeling. The result is likely the best balanced and most fun to drive crossover on the market, and in typical Porsche fashion, it is available in numerous trim levels and with loads of available options.
This 2017 Macan was specified in GTS trim and is finished in black over a red leather interior. Under the care of just one owner, this car shows 92,000 miles and was sold new at Porsche of Beverly Hills before making its way to Washington State in May of 2020. The GTS trim on the Macan sits between the S and Turbo and is designed as the most sporting variant of the car, with body color cladding on the exterior, black badging and the more heavily bolstered 12-way adjustable front seats which feature both heating and ventilation. Sitting on a set of RS-Spyder 20” wheels in silver, the car is currently fitted with Michelin Latitude Touring HP tires. This Macan was optioned with adjustable air suspension, as well as auto-leveling Xenon headlamps and a Bose high end surround sound system. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 produces 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque which is sent through a 7-speed PDK gearbox to all four wheels. Although largely standard, the car benefits from upgraded carbon fiber mirror caps as well as carbon fiber shift paddle extenders which give it a bit more sporting feel. We at Dobson Stuttgart have been looking after this car for more than 50,000 miles and have performed numerous services including replacing both front and rear brakes, as well as a coolant reservoir replacement and multiple oil changes. Even nearly 8 years after it was produced, the Macan GTS is still one of the most enjoyable small SUVs from behind the wheel and is the perfect “do everything” car.
