2009 Porsche Carrera 4S Cabriolet
With all 911s of the water-cooled generations, the cars are split up into two sub-generations. Commonly referred to as “.1” and “.2,” the second generation typically features updated front and rear fascias, improved mechanicals, and some new optional features. In the 997 generation, the leap from the 997.1 to the 997.2 was barely distinguishable on the exterior by anyone but the most diehard Porsche enthusiasts- consisting of predominately new taillights- but what Porsche did under the skin was what separates the two. The 997.1 was powered by an engine known as the M97, which was an update on the brand’s first water-cooled flat 6. Although this was a great engine, it wasn’t without its issues, and Porsche was aware of this, so to solve it they developed an entirely new engine family known as the “DFI” motors, denoting the direct fuel injection system the engine utilized. This motor is known for its improved dependability, efficiency, and of course, increased power, up by 25 hp to 380 horsepower in “S” and “4S” guise. Even with this new engine, the headline update was the availability of Porsche’s new PDK 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, which replaced the antiquated torque converter “Tiptronic S” 5-speed automatic from the first generation cars.
This 2009 Carrera 4S Cabriolet is finished in Arctic Silver with a black convertible top over a black leather interior. Under the care of just two owners from new, this Carrera was first sold in Texas, where it lived with its original owner until it was sold into Washington in March of 2023. Showing just 43,000 miles, it is exceptionally well-optioned and has been looked over by our team at Dobson Stuttgart since coming to the state. This 997.2 is fitted with the fantastic PDK 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, which offers seamless shifting and is the perfect transmission for this car. Additionally, on the interior, the ultra-rare heated and ventilated seat options have been selected, along with 8-way power adjustment. 19” 5-spoke Carrera S wheels are optioned and sit in front of red-painted brake calipers. Bi-Xenon headlamps are fitted in front, and in the rear are the 997.2 signature LED taillamps, which are bridged by the Carrera 4S exclusive “heckblende” red strip that accentuates the wide rear hips of the car. Ask many enthusiasts and they will tell you that the 997 is the proper size for the 911, and subsequent cars have begun to grow too large for tight backroads. This 997.2 really checks all the boxes and will be a perfect car to enjoy with the top down all summer and then, thanks to the sport-tuned all-wheel drive, continue driving into the winter.
