2008 Porsche Cayman S – Design Edition 1

Since Cayman’s launch in 2005, it quickly gained a following with the Porsche faithful for its neutral handling dynamics, practical interior layout and affordable price of entry. On the used market today, that is even more the case, with prices for the first 987 generation coming down to a point where they are now one of the best bang-for-buck sports cars available. In 2008, Porsche developed a special edition Cayman S to celebrate 35 years of the Porsche Design brand and called it the Cayman S Design Edition 1. Only available in Black, this Cayman was fitted with a number of special options as well as a unique – yet subtle- graphics package to signify that this car is #580 of the 777 units produced.

This 2008 Porsche Cayman S Design Edition 1 is a lifelong Pacific Northwest car and was sold new in Tacoma, WA. Showing 58,550 miles at the time of cataloging, this car spent some time in British Columbia, before coming back to Washington State in June of 2020, and has been serviced by Dobson Stuttgart since. Fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this Cayman is thrilling to drive, thanks in large part to the chassis tweaks carried out on the Design Edition 1 cars. These cars came almost fully loaded but from behind the wheel, the most important options are the PASM sport suspension which lowers the car 10mm and a set of 5mm wheel spacers that combine to give the car a perfect stance. On the interior, this was the first use of Alcantara in a Cayman, which can be found on the steering wheel, shifter, handbrake lever and headliner. The gauges are also finished in a new font with a different color than the standard car, paying homage to the products conceptualized by Porsche Design. This car has been kept to a very high standard over the years and benefits from an upgraded Apple Play head unit, front and rear facing cameras and a fresh set of Vredstein tires less than one year ago. If you have always wanted to experience the thrill of Porsche ownership, it’s hard to imagine a better way to dive in than this Cayman S.
