2006 Porsche Boxster

With the runaway success of Porsche’s first generation 986 Boxster, enthusiasts wondered how the brand could better it for the next iteration. In 2005, the company put the new 987 generation on sale and its improvements were undeniable. Revised, slightly more aggressive styling to match the also new 997 generation 911, paired with a heavily revised interior and improved drivetrain took the Boxster name to the next level.

This 2006 Boxster was built in September of 2005 and is a lifelong Seattle-area car. Finished in Seal Gray Metallic over a black leather interior, this Tiptronic-equipped Boxster shows 87,656 miles at the time of cataloging. Very well equipped from the factory, this Boxster was ordered with heated seats, rain sensing wipers, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), a BOSE Sound System and Homelink garage door opener. Since new, this car has been well maintained at both franchise dealerships, and respected independent Porsche-focused shops, and first started coming to Dobson Stuttgart for Service in March of 2020. Since that time, we have completed numerous oil changes, and all of the brakes have been replaced within the last 6,000 miles.

The “base” specification Boxster for the 987 generation is still a remarkably quick and fun-to-drive car. Its 2.7-liter naturally aspirated flat 6 produces 237 horsepower which, when connected to the Tiptronic S gearbox, is capable of 0-60 in 7.1 seconds and a top speed in excess of 150 mph. The Tiptronic 5-speed automatic offers every day usability, but also lets you have fun when the roads get curvy thanks to a manual shifting mode with steering-wheel mounted shift buttons. If you’re looking for a great first Porsche or a car that you can use in traffic and still have fun on the weekends, it’s hard to do much better than a 987 Boxster. This example benefits from significant maintenance over the years and is nicely optioned, making it a great choice and fantastic value.
