2005 Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupe
For many Porsche enthusiasts, the 997 generation was the last great 911. It offers most of the comfort you could expect in a modern car, but was built before cars began to grow substantially in size. Obviously Porsche has made plenty of great 911s since the 997, but it holds a special place in the brand’s history, and conveniently, the 997 is also one of the most attainable 911s on sale today. This was the first variant of the 911 where Porsche began offering a tremendous number of variants for buyers to choose from, but in the car’s first year on sale- 2005 – it was only offered in a few configurations. Before the Turbo and GT3 debuted, if you wanted to get the highest performing 997, you would opt for the Carrera S. With a punched-out 3.8-liter flat 6 and wider rear track, the Carrera S is still widely considered to be one of the great driver’s cars from the era and offers an exceptional blend of performance and modern-day usability.
This 2005 Carrera S was ordered by somebody who loved performance driving, which is evident by the option boxes ticked at the dealership. Showing 105,854 miles, it is finished in Lapis Blue Metallic, and fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission with the factory short-shifter, as well as the very rarely ordered Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCBs). In 2005, these brakes alone added nearly $10,000 to the cost of your 911 and had only been available on the highest-performing 996s in the previous generation. The car was also optioned with the Bose High-End Sound package and leather wrapped sport seats.
Under prior ownership, this Carrera S was treated to a host of upgrades that make it look outstanding and provide even greater driving enjoyment. The most immediately noticeable upgrades are the exterior aero kit which includes a lower front valance and large fixed rear spoiler, as well as a set of multi-piece BBS LM wheels. Mechanically, a set of AWE headers along with an AWE cat back exhaust have been fitted and the car rides on BC Racing Coilovers. Function First engine mounts help the car put the power to the ground and numeric shift cables give it a very positive shift feel. The interior has been upgraded as well with Alcantara on the steering wheel, shift knob and shift boot, as well as a Pioneer head unit with Apple CarPlay capabilities.
This 997 Carrera S is a great car for the enthusiast looking to step into their first 911, or somebody coming out of a classic looking for air conditioning and modern performance. If you want to see the car in person or learn more, please contact us at Dobson Stuttgart.
