2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet
For many Porsche enthusiasts, the 997 generation was the last great 911. It offers most of the comfort you could expect in a modern car, but was built before cars began to grow substantially in size. Obviously Porsche has made plenty of great 911s since the 997, but it holds a special place in the brand’s history, and conveniently, the 997 is also one of the most attainable 911s on sale today. Split into two generations, the 997 was offered in Coupe, Cabriolet and Targa, and could be tailored to almost any specification you desired. This 2005 911 Carrera S Cabriolet is what’s known as a “997.1”, and was finished in the first full year of the model’s production. Finished in Black with a black convertible top, this example was sold new in Texas, shows right around 102,000 miles and is a great spec for someone who loves pure driving enjoyment.
The first clue this was sold to an enthusiast is the 6-speed manual gearbox fitted to this car- offering positive shift action and an easy clutch, this gearbox and pedal setup make for easy heel-toe shifting and a lot of fun when the road gets twisty. As a Carrera S, this car produces 355 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, and the M97 flat-6 sitting out back makes one of the best noises from Porsche’s watercooled era. This sound is made even better by the addition of a Fabspeed cold air intake which amplifies the induction bark-one of this motor’s best qualities- while also adding an estimated 11 horsepower. The 19” Carrera S “Lobster Claw” wheels are finished with black centers and polished lips, and sit in front of red brake calipers- which compliment the red “S” emblem on the rear of the car. On the interior, the seats are covered in black leather and the car is fitted with the smaller diameter sport steering wheel, as well as white-faced gauges and a PCM module. We have been servicing this car at Dobson Stuttgart since September of 2022- including doing a pre purchase inspection before the owner took delivery. We love these cars and think that anybody who is looking for a great top down sports car for the summer would be absolutely over the moon behind the wheel of this Carrera S Cabriolet.
