2002 Porsche Boxster S – Fresh 3.8L engine!
The 986-generation Boxster signaled Porsche’s return to a mid-engine layout for the first time in a road car since the 914. An instant hit, the Boxster quickly became one of the brand’s best selling sports cars and offered enthusiasts a fun driving experience, with a significant discount over a contemporary 911.
This 2002 Boxster S is finished in Black with a black leather interior and a 6-speed manual transmission from the factory. The 986 Boxster S came from the factory with a 3.2-liter water cooled flat-6 that was good for 247 horsepower. Under previous ownership, this car’s engine was custom built to 3.8-liters with custom Traum pistons, Carillo connecting rods and an upgraded IMS bearing. Exact power figures aren’t known but this is one of the most exciting Boxsters we have ever driven. Since completion of this engine rebuild, the car has been driven less than 5,000 miles and remains in overall excellent condition.
