1997 Porsche 993 Cabriolet

The Porsche 993 was a classic as soon as it was launched in 1994. Representing the end of the air-cooled 911, the 993 combined modern, of the moment styling, with the most highly developed air-cooled engine to ever come from Porsche. These cars are the ultimate in usable classics, and offer an appealing combination of refinement, paired with just the right amount of driver involvement, and legendary Porsche reliability. The 993 is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-6 known as the M64 which was updated in 1996 with Porsche’s new Varioram variable length intake, as well as OBD II. According to Porsche, this engine produces 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, which allows for 0-60 mph in the mid-5 second range and a top speed in excess of 160 mph. Production of the 993 ended in 1998 with the introduction of the watercooled 996, and although values dipped for a time, they have been rapidly accelerating over the last decade and remain one of the most sought after properties in the collector car world today.

This 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is a wonderful driver quality example of Porsche’s final air-cooled car. Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Classic Gray Full Leather with a Classic Gray fabric top, this 6-speed manual equipped car shows 149,708 miles, but looks more like a car with 60,000 miles on it. The clean CarFax indicates this Porsche was sold new in Southern California, where more than 76,000 miles were racked up in the first 5 years. Since that time, the car has moved around the country, but was always comprehensively serviced at dealers or marque specialists, and has been under our care at Dobson Stuttgart since May of 2021. Within the last month, we have replaced the drive belts and fitted a brand new set of Continental ExtremeContact performance tires to ensure that the car is ready for its next caretaker to enjoy. As the 993 has reached classic car status over the past decade, collectors have put an outsized emphasis on low mile show cars – but with those cars, you lose sight of what makes these cars so great – the drive. In light of that, this 993 Carrera Cabriolet is the perfect car for top down, summer enjoyment, that is ready to go and make memories for another 150,000 miles.
